FBI MEDIA ALERT: Albuquerque FBI Division presents Director’s Community Leadership Award

Albuquerque FBI Special Agent in Charge James Langenberg presented the 2019 FBI Director's Community Leadership Award today to Chris Schueler, the Emmy® Award-winning founder of Christopher Productions, for partnering with the FBI to host youth events about the dangers of opioid abuse, vaping, and other important topics.
Each of the FBI's 56 field offices annually selects an individual or organization to receive this award, which honors efforts in combating crime, terrorism, drugs, and violence in America.

Mr. Schueler, who has received 27 Emmys, is also the executive director of SafeTeen New Mexico, a non-profit established in 2001 to help youth make healthy decisions. The organization has reached more than 250,000 teens.
"Although I'm honored to receive this fantastic recognition, it's really a recognition of all the work of our youth partners that is being honored by this," Mr. Schueler said. "I'm certainly thrilled to receive this on behalf of them, the SafeTeen Board, and our crew from Christopher Productions. Our real joy is working with youth to help their peers and everyone else in our community make healthier decisions for the future."

SAC Langenberg presented a certificate to Mr. Schueler at the Albuquerque FBI Field Office. Mr. Schueler has been invited to a ceremony that will be held on May 1, 2020, in Washington, D.C., where FBI Director Christopher Wray will present him and other recipients with crystal awards.

In October 2019, Mr. Schueler supported an Opioid Awareness Summit hosted by the FBI Albuquerque Citizens Academy Alumni Association and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. He agreed to be a speaker and also provided a documentary he created on the use of E-cigarettes by the youth community.

Mr. Schueler in the past 20 years has created more than 100 television programs that have been broadcast throughout the country and around the world. A former teacher, Mr. Schueler focuses on educational and social issues in creating children's programming, cultural and social documentaries, and family series television.

"Our recipient this year has used his extraordinary talents to help young people lead healthier, happier lives," SAC Langenberg said. "We are proud to present the FBI Director's Community Leadership Award to Chris, who has been an enthusiastic ally of our efforts to protect the next generation."
